We started todays show with a cry for Peace, “Give Blood” by Pete Townshend is an anti-war, anti-establishment anthem. Ultimately, the song serves as a plea for peace, encouraging people to “give love and keep blood between brothers”. The 1985 track, which opens Townshend’s concept album White City: A Novel, was written as a response to the uselessness of street fights and war. Music has that power and the feeling of such needs in this day and age. Arlo Guthrie sing a Steve Goodman song in The City Of New Orleans and it captures the changing American landscape, the fading magic of cross-country rail travel, and the fading lives of working-class people. The Animals are in the top of the show as well with their song “The House of the Rising Sun” is a traditional folk ballad about a life spiraling into ruin. We here at Mental Health Radio believe that music does reflect the feeling of despair and desperate moments, we have been there and music has been there for us as well. Walking that tightrope can be tough but we believe that you can do it.
