Started todays show with a Bryan Adams written song but Prism brought it to life and it was Young and Restless. The song captures the rebellious adolescent urge to break free from school, cut loose, and chase thrill-seeking behavior, even if it borders on being out of control highlighting the rush and recklessness of youth. The Police song “Synchronicity 2 explores this concept by juxtaposing a suburban man’s daily misery with a monster rising from a dark Scottish lake. The two parallel events are symbolic, not logical as the man’s suppressed rage, domestic turmoil, and alienation build up at home and work, a physical monster awakens in a loch and travels to the shore. The monster is a metaphor for the father’s mounting psychological anxiety and the destructive, buried “shadow” within him. Again songs reaching a touchy subject these days as it appears the government seems to be taking away funding from mental health instead of putting money into it. Cheap Tricks 1979 hit The Dream Police Written by guitarist Rick Nielsen, the song tackles “Big Brother” themes where invisible, omnipresent authorities the “Dream Police” spy on your thoughts, act as judge and jury, and won’t let you alone even while you sleep. Late night paranoia and surveillance heavily inspired by George Orwell`s book 1984.
