Land Of Confusion by Genesis is quite the intelligent song writing skills of Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins voice adds so much feeling in it. The lyrics critique the world’s socio-political mess. Lines like “too many men, too many people, making too many problems” criticize the endless geopolitical bickering and weak leadership that leave everyday citizens feeling alienated. Despite the dark and angry tone of the music, the chorus provides a sense of hope. It declares, “This is the world we live in, and these are the hands we’re given,” suggesting that the world is worth fighting for and that everyday people have the power to enact change. We thought we would play a great live version of Neil Young`s song Sugar Mountain He wrote it on his 19th birthday in 1964 as a lament for his lost youth. “Sugar Mountain” is a metaphor for a perfect, idyllic childhoodârepresented in the song as a lively carnival or fair filled with barkers, cotton candy, and friends. Also had to throw in some Pink Floyd and their great song Have A Cigar. Interestingly, neither Waters nor David Gilmour could successfully nail the cynical, sneering vocals during recording. They ended up using guest vocals from British folk-rock singer Roy Harper, who was coincidentally recording in another studio at Abbey Road at the time. As well Roy Harper turned down Led Zeppelin when they offered him a recording contract on their new Swan Song label but Zeppelin would write a song about the incredible studio musician in their song Hats Off To Roy.
