Well it is our Friday here the Langdon Auger show hope you have enjoyed our week of music. We truly believe that music speaks way more than some people give it credit for, Music is life and a way to escape life and it’s sometime cruelty and despair because music is always there. Whether you like one song or not it has meaning to the artists and someone else who is listening to it. I do get some flack for the music I play, not going to lie about that but, that music means something to me and even has messages to pass on to our listeners. Like Soul Asylum song “I Will Still Be Laughing” No matter how low you fall (âface down in a stranger’s tombâ) or how absurd and cruel the world gets, maintaining a sense of grim humor is the ultimate way to retain control and outlast the misery. The opening lines (âTheyâre all laughing at your clothes, standing in the lunch line / Youâre the talk of the town ’cause you’re up and you’re downâ) highlight high school-like cruelty and gossip that persists into adult life. People mock your status when you are struggling, but life is a wheel (âItâs a cycle, Iâve found, it always comes aroundâ). Also the voices inside can play havoc on you and Jelly Roll’s song “Liar” talks about the voices inside. The “liar” represents the negative voice in Jelly Roll’s own head, his past trauma, and his struggles with substance abuse. So, continue the struggle and know this…you are not alone. There are millions of us out there! We need to break the stigma of mental health!
